Announcements for June 20 -June 26:

Joys and Concerns for Prayer: 

• Healing: Jean, Lee, Anita, Charlotte, Sung Jun Park
• Dorothea and Kristen as they grieve Rich
• Robin, asking for prayers for her son
• Pat, prayers for her son and his family 
• Joyce, father leaving hospital in hospice care
• Avella, for a family situation
• Prayers for more fruitfulness and more opportunities to live and share the love of Jesus as God calls us. 

Food Pantry: Thank you for supporting this ministry so generously! The pantry currently could use tuna, pasta, sauces, soup, vegetables, and flour. If you can donate some of these items this week, you can bring them during regular pantry hours or contact the church to arrange a drop-off time. 

 We also need volunteers to help with both deliveries or in-person hours. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Scott directly. 

We would like to get a refrigerator for the pantry to store some of the perishable goods. If anyone knows where we might find one, contact Pastor Scott. 

Bible Study: Our Bible study continues helping people discover new truths and get closer to God. You don’t have to be completing the Disciple I curriculum to join our conversations. Anyone is welcome to listen and participate as they wish. We keep it real, and we have a really good time. If you’d like the link, please contact the church. Note that there will not be Bible study on June 30. 

Grief Share: We will be starting a new cohort of our grief support ministry on Monday, July 19, at 7:00 PM. If you know someone who has recently lost someone and could use the support of a caring community, have them contact us. The new cohort will begin on July 15. 

Adult Sunday School: We are excited to resume Sunday School classes on Sunday, July 11 at 10:00 AM. If you would like to join an interesting conversation about applying Jesus’ teachings and other Biblical principles to your life, this is the place for you. The book and coffee are provided. Just come on out.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! The last fifteen months have been hard. Everyone experienced big challenges, whether they were related to finances, mental health, grief, or something else. These challenges may have folks may coming out of this time feeling differently about God. As society reopens, with new challenges emerging and other challenges ongoing, how is your faith? Do you still believe in a God that can defeat giants and calm storms, or has this experience shaken your trust in the God of big things? Join us this week as we take a look at two of God’s miracles in scripture and refresh our perspective on The God of Big Things.

Hearts and Hands: Hearts and Hands is a nonprofit community agency that seeks to assist people in the community by providing various types of assistance such as grocery shopping and rides to shop or medical appointments. If you know anyone who might be interested in volunteering or could use the services, contact them directly. 

Adult Sunday School: We are looking for someone who would interested in helping lead our Adult Sunday School class. The curriculum would be provided for you, and you would share teaching duties with Paul. If you’d like more information, talk to Pastor Scott. 

Annual Conference: Our church is one of 850 that is connected through the Upper New York Annual Conference. All pastors and one layperson from every church will be meeting from June 17-19 to discuss the ministry we perform together in the world. Please be in prayer for our bishop and everyone who will be participating so that we discern and walk in God’s will.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Many of us are familiar with Jesus’ teachings that use mustard seeds. One of his lessons tells us that even though the mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds, it will grow into such a huge bush that birds can nest in it. We hear it, and many of us hear the lesson that if we have even the smallest amount of faith we can accomplish great things. There may be more to the parable than that. Jesus is also teaching us a powerful lesson about how God works in the world. We need to trust God to be at work and we have to play our part in God’s plan. What’s out part you ask? What does that have to do with the mustard seed? Join us on Sunday as we explore “Blinded By Science.”

Our brother in Christ, Rich Haug, went to be with the Lord this past Thursday. Rich was a longtime member of our church family. He was one of our worship leaders, served on our Leadership Team, and helped with our building maintenance for years. Please keep his wife Dorothea, his daughter Kristen, their family, and those who were close to him here in prayer as we celebrate his life and grieve his loss.

A lot of folks are looking for God in their lives. It can be hard to see how God is working in their circumstances or understand what God is saying. Jesus understood this problem, and at times he had to confront people who challenged what he was doing because they didn’t recognize it as God’s work. This morning we’re talking about how we might see the movement of God. Join us this week as we discuss, “Seeing God at Work.”
