Worship with us today – May 29

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

What makes you do things that you don’t want to do? God sometimes has to get our attention to help us keep moving in the direction of God’s will. Sometimes God’s actions are big and loud. Other times they’re softer, persistent nags on our souls. These threats to what is normal and comfortable upset us. God’s truth shines a light on things that makes it impossible to be who we were. God disturbs your normal and will upset others through you. Change is hard, but growth means change has to happen. Once we’re changed, God uses us to help change the world. Join us this week as we talk about “Disturbing the City” as we conclude our Easter series We are Witnesses.

Worship with us this morning – May 22

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

Many of us have been affected by the terrorist attack in our city last week. People of Color have lived with white terrorist violence throughout history, yet impossible to have this happen so close to our homes without it impacting us. Disciples of Jesus are promised the peace that surpasses all understanding. Most of us have struggled to know and experience that peace this week. How are we to know and trust God’s piece given what’s happened? Is there a way to wrestle with doubts and fears honestly without feeling like a bad Christian? This week, we continue our sermon series We Are Witnesses. What will be our witness after this act of racist hatred? How do we address clearly troubled hearts? Join us this Sunday as we explore the idea of Not as the World Gives.

We’ll be live on Facebook at 11:00, or you can watch at any time on Facebook or Youtube.

Here is some information to help you participate if you’re joining us online:

Worship with us this morning – May 15

It has been a time of loss and pain in our city. We grieve the loss of life, and our hearts break for those who were injured. As disciples of Christ, we know that evil does not and can not win. The shock, pain, sadness, and rage that swirls in our hearts may threaten to overtake us, but we are witnesses. We know the power of a God whose heart breaks, not out of weakness but out of love for God’s children. We know a God of resurrection and grace, not hate and death. Knowing this truth may not stop our pain and tears at today’s tragedy, but it does show us where to find the strength and wisdom to work through them.

As we gather this morning, both in person or online, we will put our love and faith into action. We will offer comfort, peace, and encouragement to one another as we process this act of terror. We will take our place alongside all those working to bring peace and justice in Jesus’ name to our city and God’s world.

If you need a helpful word, a place to feel not alone, somewhere to ask hard questions, or some positive people to be around, we can help. If you are hurting and need professional services we can connect you with the help you need.

We are disciples of Jesus. We are people of the resurrection. We are witnesses. We’ll be live on Facebook at 11:00, or you can watch at any time on Facebook or Youtube.

Here is some information to help you participate if you’re joining us online:

When you saw your friends this week, what stories did you tell? Maybe it was about the news of the day, something may have happened to a mutual friend, or a funny thing happened at the grocery store. We share our stories. If you looked over your past week, what story did you tell about Jesus? Your life told a story even if you didn’t think so. Our words and actions show who we think Jesus is. What story will you tell today and tomorrow? There will also be a special moment to celebrate the lives of those who love us as mothers and honor those for whom the day is difficult.
